The Hudson Valley is bracing for its first real blast of snowy weather this week.

There is a potential for a moderate snowfall accumulation Thursday night into Friday, the National Weather Service reports. As of now, a Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for the area, with increasing chances it will be changed to a Winter Weather Advisory or Winter Weather Warning later this week, officials say.

Here's the current forecast for Dutchess, Orange, Ulster and Putnam counties, according to the National Weather Service:

Dutchess County

  • Thursday: A slight chance of rain showers between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow showers.  Chance of precipitation is 40%.
  • Thursday Night: A chance of rain and snow before 7 p.m., then snow between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m.,  then snow and sleet after 1 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Friday: Sleet before 10 a.m., then rain. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Orange County

  • Thursday:  A chance of rain, snow and sleet after 2 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
  • Thursday Night: Snow and sleet before 5 a.m., then rain, snow and sleet. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
  • Friday: Rain, mainly before 11 a.m.  Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Ulster County

  • Thursday: A chance of rain and snow after 4 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Thursday Night: A chance of rain and snow before 7 p.m., then snow. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Friday: Snow and sleet before 10 a.m., then rain, snow and sleet between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., then a chance of rain after 1 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Putnam County

  • Thursday: A slight chance of snow and sleet between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., then a chance of rain, snow and sleet. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
  • Thursday Night: Snow and sleet before 5 a.m., then rain, snow and sleet. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
  • Friday: Rain, mainly before 11 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

As of this writing, meteorologists haven't predicted snowfall totals.
