A 13-year-old girl was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Hopewell Junction on Tuesday. Thanks to social media, the driver has been found.

The accident took place on Tuesday, June 2 at the intersection of Routes 376 and 82 in Hopewell Junction. The young girl was crossing in a crosswalk when she was struck by an SUV.

The vehicle sped off, but a description of the driver was quickly posted on the East Fishkill police's Facebook page. That post was shared over 1,500 times and led to an identification of the alleged perpetrator. According to the posting, the public was immediately asked to be on the lookout for:

A dark over gray colored Jeep SUV with a rear wheel cover labeled JEEP in white letters and a white decal on the passenger side rear window. The driver is a white female in her 30s or 40s brown hair below her shoulder wearing dark clothing and an Under-armor hoody.

According to HVNN the 26-year-old LaGrange woman was found and charged with leaving the scene of an accident in addition to failing to yield to a pedestrian. The good news is that the young girl was treated and, according to a follow-up post by the police, her injuries were not fatal:
