This is a song of sheer brilliance. It's a sharp departure from their normal music, and that's what makes it so incredible. Gotta Be Somebody's Blues is slow and measured, with a string section in the background.

It's haunting. It's almost ephemeral. There's a slight dissonance to some of the song, with a slight note in the background, almost like wind at night.

I love this song. I remember the first time I heard it, and I stopped dead in my tracks to pay attention. It was off the album "Chase This Light", which dropped in 2007. There were only 2 singles off that album, and it never quite took off for Jimmy Eat World. And that's a shame. I would have loved to have seen the reaction to such departure from the norm, even though it was, and still is, fantastic.

**Side note. I did an interview with Jimmy Eat World when this album released and it was DISASTROUS. One of the worst things I've ever done in radio. It was so bad I apologized to the band the first chance I had 2 years later. They were nice enough to pretend they didn't remember it.**
