The Ulster County SPCA removed 43 ducks, and one cat from a residence in Woodstock.

The Ulster County SPCA Humane Law Investigations Division executed a search warrant at a home in Woodstock, NY.

Ben Gary Treistman, 56, was arrested on 44 counts of Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance to an Animal and 25 counts of “Failure to Provide Proper Food and Drink to an Impounded Animal.

It is alleged that Treistman confined the animals in areas lacking sanitation, or exposed the animals to medical hazards due to the conditions in which they were living.

The arrest stems from a 6-month long investigation into the conditions of his property. He was released on appearance tickets, and is due in court later this month.

The animals seized including: 18 ducks, 25 ducklings, and one cat. The animals are currently being housed at the UCSPCA’s Kingston shelter and Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary.
