I'm not going to lie. I got goosebumps.

We've been waiting for the latest installation of the Expanded Universe of the new Disney-led Star Wars and, if the trailer is to be believed, we will NOT be disappointed.

The dischordant (and often missing) music, the air raid sirens, the character appearances. This is clearly a VERY different approach for the EU. The Force Awakens felt like a reboot, and I have zero issues with that. I thought the prequel got us away from the core of the story and we needed to bring a new generation back into the fold. The Force Awakens did that.

This, however, is all new canon to the narrative. And while Empire was dark, that trailer makes the scene seem GRIM. There's an inherent darkness to that trailer and it's kind of exciting to see. I was REALLY worried about Disney doing dark and scary, not in a cartoon way, and this trailer takes it all away.

I'm not wishing December was here faster, but it can't get here fast enough. And now we've got something to talk about endlessly at the Hudson Valley Comic Con! Get your tickets for the HVCC at the linky link.
