Starwood Hotels has started to notify their customers of a possible data breach of customer information.

Here are all of the properties that have been affected, from an email:

Starwood brands include: W Hotels, St. Regis, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Element Hotels, Aloft Hotels, The Luxury Collection, Tribute Portfolio, Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, Four Points by Sheraton and Design Hotels. Starwood branded timeshare properties (Sheraton Vacation Club, Westin Vacation Club, The Luxury Collection Residence Club, St. Regis Residence Club, and Vistana) are also included.

Starwood was notified by an internal security check that in September of 2018, they suspected that someone had tried to access their customer information from their reservations system. The breach potententially copied, encrypted and tried to remove customer information for up to 500 million guests.

Starwood is continuing to work to assess how much info has been compromised and is in the process of emailing persons who they believe may have had their info compromised. They are also offering their customers one year of WebWatcher for free. If you are a Starwood customer and want to get more information you can call a special phone number that they have set up to handle any concerns that you may have, 1-877-273-9481. For more information, they have set up a website.
