A local Stewart's Shop has announced they will knock down an existing store and replace it with one 68 percent bigger.

The Daily Freeman reports the store in Lake Katrine recently had their site plan approved  but it's not known at this time when work will begin. The new Stewart's will be right around 3,900 square feet while the existing store is just 2,300.

Construction will happen on a lot south of the current location with plans to demolish the old store which will then be used as a parking lot. Many improvements are planned which will help cars entering and exiting the property, traffic flow was a main concern when designing the layout. Improved lighting, an added restroom and a walk-in cooler are all considerable upgrades.

Kingston saw a similiar project a few years ago, when they replaced a store on Albany Avenue. Stewart's owns and operates more than 300 stores and have their headquarters in Saratoga County.
