According to Blabbermouth, Stone Sour fans can anticipate a new direction on the bands next album...but don't get too excited...it could be a very long time before we hear that new direction and new material. In an interview with Eddie Trunk Sour singer Corey Taylor says he's written about eight new songs for their follow up album to "House of Gold & Bones", a double concept album released in 2012. Taylor explains the new tracks are outside the normal Stone Sour box.

"It's kind of going in a different reaction than the older stuff — like a little more rock and roll, a little more expanding the range again."

Taylor says the new material will have to stay on hold for the time being as he won't return to the studio until he's finished touring with SLIPKNOT....sometime next year.

"I've got SLIPKNOT until, call it, June of next year. So it's gonna be just kind of, where I can, filling in the blanks and getting everything ready for when that happens."

The band has not been completely silent since 2012, releasing some material in the from of cover EP's. The last EP  "Meanwhile in Burbank" was released in April on Record Store day and is apart of a two part set, the next 'Straight Outta Burbank" could be released sometime this summer. It's possible the dual EP's inspired that new direction Taylor was talking about...the EP's cover bands like Van Halen, Motley Crue, The Rolling Stones, Metallica and many more rock legends.

If you'd like a taste of the sound you can get your hands on "Meanwhile in Burbank" through iTunes. Hopefully 'Straight Outta Burbank" will be released in the next few months...it may help the wait for the new album go by faster! Hopefully!
