I'm one of the resident single people here at Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley. I get some heat for it here at the office and obviously from my family because I'm 27 years old and apparently should be married with a boat load of kids.

While I'm not trying to make excuses, I have to say it. Dating these days is hard. Believe me, I would love to find someone the good old fashion way, in person. But with dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, Match and so on the odds are stacked against you. It's so easy to swipe and keep moving.  Add in trends like Ghosting, Cushioning and Haunting...and well, you kind of just want to give up.

These trends aren't just limited to men, women do them too. To be honest, I've ghosted on a guy before.  For those of you not familiar, Ghosting is when you slowly start ignoring someone you've been seeing. Cushioning is when someone (while in a relationship) flirts with others, just incase the person their seeing at the time doesn't work out they have a back up plan. Haunting is a new one I've recently learned about thanks to Cosmopolitan Magazine. Naturally, I've been haunted. According to the magazine, Haunting is when the person who has "ghosted" you suddenly comes back from oblivion and likes your social media posts on say Instagram or Snap chat.

It is what it is. But I think we can all agree that Ghosting, Cushioning and Haunting are all horrible names. So I'll take all my single free time coming up with better names for poor dating situations.
