Update From The National Weather Service: A Tornado Watch has been issued until 10 pm today. A watch means that conditions are favorable to produce a tornado, no tornadoes have been sighted as this time.

As we all get ready to kick off a long, holiday weekend, Mother Nature doesn't seem to be in the mood to celebrate. According to the National Weather Service, we have a risk of strong to severe thunderstorms moving through our area this afternoon.

Looking at the radar at this hour, storms are already firing up to the west of us and are expected to move into the Sullivan and Orange county area between 2 and 3 this afternoon. These storms, in front of the cold front, will move through the Hudson Valley throughout the afternoon and could bring with them strong, gusty winds.

There's a small chance for large hail and isolated tornadoes. The strongest of these storms could hit during the evening commute.

We will continue to monitor this situation throughout the day and bring you updates as we get them in. The good news is, that once this system moves through, cooler, less humid air will move into our area making for a beautiful July 4th weekend.
