With events such as weddings, proms and graduations, many women consider a pedicure a "must-have" this time of year.  Foot specialist Doctor Joy Rowland with the Cleveland Clinic says pedicures are perfectly fine as long as the salon is clean.

“Visit the place you want to go,” says Dr. Rowland. “Watch them and make sure they use clean utensils and bowls and disinfect their bowls after each use.”

Dr. Rowland advises that make sure the salon uses a process called “autoclaving,” which is the method hospitals use for sterilizing surgical tools. If they do, you’re good to go.
