A gas odor at the radio station today lead to a visit from the local fire department and utility company.

The Fairview Fire Department was first on the scene and immediately headed to the supply closet where the odor was detected. The Poughkeepsie Fire Department and Central Hudson were next to arrive, and one of the production studios was also inspected for the odor.

At the time authorities showed up, the heat was turned off. Upon firing up the system a small odor was noticeable, but it was determined there was no danger.

Employees of the radio station have been complaining of the odor on and off for some time. Our engineering team suspects the smell comes from the HVAC units right outside the station near the patio. The building air intake is close to the units, and if the wind hits it just right, we may have an explanation for the problem.

As far as the funky odor, we just suspected one of the DJs was eating a burrito again.
