With each passing year, the possibility of ever seeing Zombieland 2 seemed less and less likely, which makes today’s news a pleasant surprise. Director Ruben Fleischer and original screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are officially getting the band back together for the long-teased follow-up to their 2009 horror-comedy hit. No, really. It has an actual release date and everything.
We don’t know if True Detective can make Season 3 work, let alone start revisiting past characters, but one hope for a Rust and Marty reunion may be dashed. Woody Harrelson isn’t interested in any kind of return to HBO’s True Detective, even if his partner says otherwise.
A sequel to the 2009 hit horror-comedy (but mostly comedy) Zombieland has been teased for some time, (there was even going to be an Amazon series at one point) but it wasn’t until earlier this year that the wheels seemed to have finally been set in motion. Via a surprise logo reveal, Zombieland 2 was officially announced at CinemaCon in April, with the writers who are also working on Deadpool 2 on board to pen the script.
Friday! Huzzah!
This week in the movies, the only nationwide release is Out of the Furnace. The drama stars Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson and Casey Affleck; so there are some big names in this but I don't think it will be top in the box office...
