Tasty Tracks: Fitz And The Tantrums – HandClap
“‘HandClap’ is a primal tale of love and lust, a call to arms in the late hours of the night,” says lead vocalist Fitz. “It’s the X-rated version of ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ happening on a dance floor.” That's Fitz talking to Radio.com.
That's a pretty expressive description. When we last heard from F&TT, they were releasing "Fool's Gold". It was dancey, in it's own way. I'd say it's safe to say F&TT were aiming for high energy. And they hit the mark. I'm not gonna lie; when the saxophone kicks in, it adds a totally unexpected elemental to the song, and it's freaking awesome. That drop in audio right before the second verse kicks in again, with all the musical elements hitting. It's audio gold.
"HandClap" is the first single off their new album which will be self-titled and is scheduled to drop in June. Expect a tour to to support the album to follow this summer.
