Say you are walking through a lake and look down because you see something shiny? A little bit of additional investigation and voila, a gold bar. What do you do?

A similar situation happened to a 17-year-old girl in Germany. After discovering the gold bar, she turned it into the police, her thoughts were that the person who misplaced this was going to be frantic about not being able to find it.

Fast forward the required waiting period of 6-months and the German Police, say that the honest girl gets to keep it. (Good for her!)

Deuce and I were wondering, what does one do with gold bars? Trade them, sell them, melt them down?

After doing about 3 minutes worth of research online, we found that the best way to "move gold bars in small quantities" is to take them to a place that "buys gold". If you find yourself to be in possession of more than just a few bars (we would like to hear that story) then you might want to contact The Mint and speak to them about ways to lawfully sell them.
