Why was the date of the NY Primary Voting changed for September 2018? There isn't just one reason, there are actually quite a few. So the NY Assembly met to officially change the voting date.

This year, the voting day was to have been Tuesday September 11, 2018.

Here are a few of the reasons that they voted to change the date of voting:

  • September 11, 2018, a Tuesday, it will be the 17th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, which is an important day of remembrance for many New Yorkers
  • It is also the second day of the Jewish Celebration of Rosh Hashanah, which assembly members, felt might keep the voters from being able to get to the poles.

Will this date change make it easier for you to get to the poles? Do you prefer to vote via absentee ballot? Do you not vote at all>
