Festival season is upon us. The worst possible thing you can do is go to the show UN-prepared. I've assembled a list of things you need, so you can have a good time even if mother nature doesn't agree with you. And if you're heading up to Mountain Jam this year, it's best to prepare for rain. This will be #6 for me and if there's one constant other than all the great music, it's rain. But I must say, it's part of the charm.

On with the list of supplies you'll need.

  • Tent
  • Sleeping Bag/Pillow
  • Air Mattress or folding cot (Remember to bring batteries for the pump)
  • EZ-Up tent or portable gazebo
  • Extra blankets
  • Tapestries
  • Rain Gear
  • Warm clothes
  • Acoustic instruments
  • Hand drums
  • Batteries
  • Frisbee and hacky sac
  • Tarp
  • Stakes
  • Mallet
  • Pocket Knife
  • Extra towels
  • Extra TP!
  • Chairs
  • Folding table
  • Coolers (Best to have 1 for drinks, 1 for food)
  • Bug spray
  • Water Jugs
  • Jumper cables
  • Small radio (phone/mp3 player compatible) for tunes
  • Flashlights/headlamp
  • Sun screen
  • Ash trays if you're a smoker

Plus its always good to have an extra set of keys stashed somewhere in case you lose yours in the mud. Trust me, it's happened. Don't forget to get yourself set up with some food too, but I always like to see what sort of food the vendors have in store. Mountain Jam especially has a great selection of stuff a fat guy like myself can get into.

Check out Pearl Jam from Bonnaroo a few years back.
