As a movie geek, one of the coolest things to do is to go see one of your favorite movies in a new setting. I love going back and seeing old classics in the movie theater, and there are tons of film festivals and marathons that screen older films for the superfans out there. This summer, the Hudson Valley has been flooded with older movies screening all over the place, and I rounded up some of the notable ones playing this weekend to make it easier for you to figure out where to go.

Friday, July 21st - Big Hero 6 at Phillies Bridge Farm Project in New Paltz

The Phillies Bridge Farm Project is hosting an outdoor Movie and Pizza night, and the movie they've selected is Disney's Big Hero 6, the really fun animated movie with ties to Marvel comics. The pizza will be made with farm-fresh ingredients and made-to-order in their outdoor oven. The movie starts at 6:00 and the pizza will be served from 5:00 to 7:30.

Friday, July 21st - Jaws at Angry Orchard in Walden

Jaws is maybe my favorite movie of all time, and Angry Orchard is awesome. This here is a no-brainer. They're screening the movie outside on a giant inflatable screen, and Black Dirt Gourmet Catering Company will be providing snacks. Tickets are only five bucks, and of course, there will be cider available on draft. The movie starts at 8:30.

Saturday, July 22nd - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story at the Walkway in Poughkeepsie

The "Movies Under The Walkway" series in Poughkeepsie continues with last year's Star Wars prequel following the Rebels who stole the Death Star plans before the original movie took place. This one is totally free and the movie will be preceded by live music from Matthew Fink & Friends around 7:00. The movie starts around sunset.

Saturday, July 22nd - Rushmore at Dockside Park in Cold Spring

The movie that put director Wes Anderson (The Royal TenanbaumsMoonrise KingdomThe Grand Budapest Hotel) on the map is playing for free in Cold Spring this weekend. This is a great, very funny movie featuring Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray competing for the affections of Schwartzman's teacher. The movie starts at 8:15.

Saturday, July 22nd - Space Jam at Fancher-Davidge Park in Middletown

Come on and SLAM! If you wanna JAM! Space Jam, the 1996 nostalgia classic that teamed Michael Jordan up with the Looney Tunes, is screening at Neil B. Turfler Softball Field in Fancher-Davidge Park in Middletown. It's a free show and you'll be bumping that soundtrack the entire ride home. The movie starts at 8:30.

The classic '80s comedy Caddyshack with Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield and Chevy Chase is showing at the Hoot Owl Restaurant in Pine Bush. They're also launching their new bar menu and they'll have some food and drink specials ready. The movie starts at 7:00.
