Thirty Seconds to Mars’ Jared Leto Wins Golden Globe for ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ Role

Get used to hearing Jared Leto's name called this award season! The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman made a triumphant return to acting this past year, playing a transgendered AIDS patient named Rayon in the film 'Dallas Buyers Club' and he was rewarded with a Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe Award on Sunday night (Jan. 12).

Leto has primarily put his acting career on hold in recent years in order to launch his band Thirty Seconds to Mars to stardom, but found the time to take on the award-winning role. Leto told E! News that winning the Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globe Awards was truly a team effort. He explained, "[It] allows you to a chance to put your flag in the ground and say thank you to all of the people who mean so much and who have helped you create these crazy, creative, wild wonderful things."

Upon winning the award, Leto joked with the audience, "I'd like to use this opportunity to clear up a few things. I did not ever use any prosthetics in this film … That tiny little Brazilian bubble butt was all mine." Leto also spoke about the steps he took in creating the character, including waxing his entire body, with eyebrows included. He added, "I'm just fortunate that it wasn't a period piece so I didn't have to do a full Brazilian [wax]. Ladies, you know what I'm talking about thought … and so do some of you mean, I think."

He finished out his speech stating, "This is incredible. I didn't make a film for almost six years because I was pursuing other dreams and I just have to say it's more than an honor to come back and have this love and support. I never expected it and never even dreamed of it. I want to thank my incredible team for making this so fun and giving me this incredible life and to the Rayons of the world, thanks for the inspiration."

Matthew McConaughey, the star of 'Dallas Buyers Club,' won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a motion picture drama.
