In case you were curious why America's iconic singing show is going the way of the dodo, this video shows exactly why.

I mean, I don't think I can name more than 5 of the 14 winners the show has produced. On the other hand, I have no idea at all who has won a single season of The Voice or X Factor when that was on. So at least American Idol has that going for it.

And while we're on the subject, let's just go ahead and change the phrase for things that disappear without a trace from "going the way of the dodo" to "going the way of Taylor Hicks." It's much more relevant and understandable.
