I don't like the Deftones. I adore them.

I've gone into the pit at their shows and had the snot knocked out of me to get closer to the stage. I've seen them a ton of times and they keep getting better.

But THIS song. This song is what made them the name they are.

"Be Quiet And Drive" is their 4th single. While " My Own Summer" and "Around The Fur" came before it and are AWESOME, this is the first single they had that actually tracked in the United States. It eventually peaked at #29, but it was the first of TWELVE singles that tracked in the Mainstream Rock charts.

It was off their second studio album, "Around The Fur", and really introduced the Deftones to the world. I know they kind of fall into the "nu-metal" category, I never felt like they deserved to be there. I always had the feeling that they should occupy their own category. Between the crazy dirty effects they were using on the guitars, the driving drums, and the way Chino can switch from crooning, to screaming, to singing at the top of his lungs (and sound AMAZING doing it), they just belong in the category of "Awesome".
