Do you remember where you were the first time you heard certain songs? I get that all the time. Less Than Jake, Green Day. All the big ones.

I remember where I was, where I was driving and what time of day it was when I first heard "Super Bon Bon".

Released off of Irresistible Bliss in 1996, "Super Bon Bon" was the second single off the album, but damn was it the best thing I had heard in a long time. It hit #27 on the Modern Rock charts, but it deserved so much more.

The story of Mike Doughty and Soul Coughing is a weird, and often unpleasant, one. Doughty wrote about his experience with the band in "The Book of Drugs" and eventually left the band when it was just at it's peak of fame. I know he doesn't really like the songs he made with Soul Coughing anymore, and it makes me sad that I REALLY love this song. But I certainly won't buy anymore Soul Coughing albums, and I'll support him by buying his solo stuff.

But I'll still love this song. Just a little.

BTW, he did a remake of the song in 2013. It's not quite so bonkers, but it still hits the mark.
