Throwback Thursday: System of a Down – Chop Suey!

I'm not sure this should be considered alternative anymore. SOAD was certainly slightly bizarre, when compared to the norm of the day. They took hard rock and gave it weird time changes, crazy screams. Manic lyricism. Their political views were certainly on the left side of the spectrum.

15 years and nearly half a BILLION views  on YouTube later, this might be one of the biggest alternative songs in a generation.

2001 was a crazy year. System of a Down made a lot of sense in a year like that.  And even as my music tastes have changed, and alternative has changed, this song still sticks out in the realm of awesome songs.

I could listen to to it for hours.
