Tops Friendly Markets announced last month that they would be taking over six Hudson Valley supermarkets. With the addition of these local markets, Tops now has 171 stores in the northeast.

The stores that are affected were under the Stop & Shop or Hannaford brand. Customers should experience a smooth transition process, but will need to fill out an application to receive the Tops Bonus Plus Shopper Card.

The affected stores will close for about 48 hours and then re-open under the new name. According to a press release, employees will transition to the new company and no jobs were lost.
