The real-world transition of Caitlyn Jenner understandably drew mention in the second season of Amazon’s Transparent, and a third season of the Golden Globe-winner will take things a step further in 2016. Jenner herself will appear on Transparent, but as whom?

Creator and executive producer Jill Soloway confirmed as much in an interview with the AP at Saturday’s GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, without specifying the role (or perhaps a direct cameo), noting that both Transparent and Jenner’s reality series I Am Cait share multiple acquaintances:

We are all part of the same community. A lot of the transwomen who work on our show are also in her show I am Cait. Lots of crossover. Lots of friends.

Previously, Soloway had spoken to including Jenner’s transition in the second season, if not Jenner herself outright:

I don’t know if she’d want to act, but we definitely want to incorporate the fact that she came out into this season. Just to have that base conversation somewhere in a scene, for sure […]

I feel like the change in the transgender community has happened because of the lived lives of trans people. There is a sea change happening right now, a revolution and we’re definitely in there a part of it. Sometimes I just trip on the fact that she’s the patriarch of the most famous family on the planet. There’s an international resonance with people recognizing that trans people are people too.

Jenner will film her scenes next week, while Transparent Season 3 has yet to confirm a 2016 premiere date.
