In September of 2017 a fertilizer company with a facility in Kinderhook in Columbia County was burglarized according to the NY/New England supplier. The New York State Police (NYSP) announced an arrest on Tuesday.

In a statement issued by the NYSP late on Dec. 19, the NYSP announced the arrest of 28-year-old Michael J. Makoske of Schodack on the charge of burglary in the third degree, a Class D felony for the burglary.

According to the official statement, the NYSP responded to the burglary complaint at Carovail Inc. in Kinderhook on Sept. 21, 2017, which resulted in a three-month investigation into the crime and culminated in Makoske's arrest.

Makoske was arraigned in the Town of Greenport Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in Lieu of a $5,000 cash/$10,000 bond bail.
