Tweets escalated into spitting and punching, the Saugerties Police Department said in a press release on Monday.

Two women were charged after the incident took place Monday morning. Police said 43-year-old Brandi Klime went to the home of 18-year-old Kaleigh Sheckler to confront her for allegedly spreading rumors about Klime's daughter on Twitter.

Klime refused to leave the Sheckler residence when asked and then allegedly spit in Sheckler's face. Sheckler allegedly punched Klime in the face two or three times, causing a cut on her nose.

Sheckler was charged with second-degree harassment and ordered to stay away from Klime.

Klime was charged with trespass and second-degree harassment.

Sheckler and Klime were processed and released with a court date set for Wednesday at 6PM.
