In a ranking of the top 25 safest cities in the United States, two Hudson Valley towns make the list.

ADT Security compiled FBI data from the 2013 Uniform Crime Report to create their list of the 25 safest cities in America. Each city was given a "Safety Score" based on the number of violent crimes and property crimes, weighted by population.

Coming in at number 21 on the list was East Fishkill. With a 91.7 safety score, the East Fishkill area made the list with a mere .61 burglaries per 1,000 residents. In 2013 there were only 9 violent crimes, which makes the community live up to their motto, "A Great Place to Live".

Carmel also made the ranking at number 22. There were just .89 burglaries for every 1,000 residents in 2013, earning Carmel a 91.4 safety score. ADT also noted Carmel's "outstanding schools, where students have a long history of achievement in academics, athletics and music."

Other nearby communities that made the list include Ridgefield and Newtown, CT. The safest place in America, according to the ranking, is Glenn Cove, Long Island with only .18 crimes per 1,000 residents.
