There are lots of choices for pizza in the Hudson Valley, but it turns out two local establishments are among the oldest continuously run pizza joints in the country.

Author and historian Colin M. Caplan has done extensive research on pizza in America. He came across locations in Poughkeepsie and Kingston that have been in operation since 1929 and 1936.

Aloy's on Garden St. is located near the Poughkeepsie entrance to the Walkway Over The Hudson. Their signature pie is thin crust and square in shape (like they did it in the '20's). Aloy's is tied with John's of Bleecker St (NYC) and Marra's Cucina Italiana of Philly as seventh oldest, all having opened in 1929, the same year the Great Depression began.

Tony's Pizzeria of Kingston, was the city's first pizzeria and is tied with Reservoir Tavern of Boontown having NJ both opened their doors in 1936.

The oldest establishment in America that has been continuously run is Papa Tomato Pies, which was opened in 1912. For the rest of the top 21 visit Thrillist.
