Following a long investigation two men were allegedly caught dumping waste on Stewart Airport property.

In August, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was told that around 40 yards of solid waste was being dumped onto Stewart Airport property every day. The DEC began an surveillance investigation.

Just after sunrise on Sept. 12, DEC officers arrested two men for unlawful disposal of solid waste on New York State Department of Transportation property leased to Port Authority-Stewart Airport, a misdemeanor.

Both men are accused of tipping their separate loads of non-exempt construction and demolition debris, consisting of asphalt, brick, and concrete, as well as processed dimensional lumber, plastics, tile, marble, and drywall.

After the two men dumped their loads, from two tractor-trailers, they were met by officers. Both admitted they delivered a total of at least 120 yards of materials from a recycling facility in the Bronx, officials say.

Both men were arraigned in Town of Newburgh Court and released after posting $400 bail.

Authorities didn't release the men's names. The investigation is continuing.
