Police responded to two shootings in the City of Poughkeepsie in less than 48 hours. One of the men shot had been the victim of another shooting in the city.

Late Sunday night, City of Poughkeepsie police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired near Maple Street and North Cherry Street. A 21-year-old city man was found shot twice in both legs. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Some 12 shell casing were recovered from the scene.

Then, at 5:26PM on Tuesday, police received reports of shots fired near Hulme Park and a man shot in front of 12 Noxon Street. A 23-year-old city resident had been shot once in his lower right leg. He underwent surgery at a local hospital for injuries that were also not considered life threatening. Police recovered eight shell casings at the scene.

Both victims told officers they didn't know who had shot them. The crime investigations led police to believe each man was the intended target of their shooter.

The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department is continuing to investigate the shootings.
