A local chocolatier is taking craft chocolate to a new level.

Bryan Graham, of Fruition Chocolate in Shokan, is one of the few chocolatiers and chefs working with a rare cocoa bean. According to Edible Brooklyn, the bean is native to Ecuador and is called Nacional, which is known for its fruity accents.

These cocoa beans really are so rare that they're currently unavailable. Michelin Star chef Eric Ripert of Le Bernardin in New York City called it the 'world's best chocolate', according to the article. Culinary Institute of America graduate Anthony Bourdain even made a chocolate bar with these beans.

Bryan Graham said in the article that it was the most expensive cocoa beans he has ever purchased. In 2016, he won the World Gold award for Best In Competition at the International Chocolate Awards for his chocolate made with the Nacional beans.

Clearly, that cocoa bean was worth the money.
