An inmate currently serving a prison sentence at the Ulster Correctional Facility is facing more charges after he allegedly assaulted a Correction Officer.

New York State Police at Ellenville say on January 28th, a Correction Officer at the Ulster Correctional Facility in the Town of Wawarsing was struggling to enforce the rules of the facility when he was attacked by inmate Damar Taylor. Police allege the 38-year-old New York City man hit the officer multiple times in the face with a closed fist. The officer sustained a substantial injury to the face.

Taylor was arrested for 2nd-degree assault, a Class D felony. He’s scheduled to appear in the the Town of Wawarsing Court, at a later date.
