Ulster County Man Accused of Credit Card Fraud
An Ulster County man is accused of using a stolen credit card to make several illegal purchases.
In late Sept., the Ulster County Sheriff's Office received a credit card fraud complaint. The victim told authorities that there were a number of unauthorized purchases made on the credit card from several local stores.
Police soon developed 36-year-old Jesse J. Forte of Kingston as a suspect. A further investigation revealed that Forte allegedly made purchases with the victim's stolen credit card. Officials did not reveal how they determined Forte was a suspect.
On Thursday, Forte surrendered to deputies at the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center.
Forte was arrested and charged with five counts of second-degree forgery, a class D felony, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class D felony, and four counts of petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
Forte was arraigned in Town of Ulster Justice Court and was released after posting $3,500 cash bail.
