An Ulster County man plead guilty for illegally receiving almost $15,000 in unemployed benefits.

Tuesday in Ulster County Court, 30-year-old Anthony Gonzalez, originally from the Town of Olive, plead guilty 4th-degree grand larceny, a class E felony.

According to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, over about an 8 month time-frame, Gonzalez illegally obtained unemployment insurance benefits in the amount of $14,175.00 from the NY State Department of Labor by failing to report income being earned by him.

Gonzalez is scheduled to be sentenced in October.

The case originated from the Special Investigations Unit in the NY State Department of Labor. The matter was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jessica Mila Schutzman. Gonzalez is represented by Assistant Public Defender Majer Gold.
