The National Council for Home Safety and Security came out with their list of the safest towns in New York State. One Ulster County town placed pretty high on that list. The Town of Plattekill came in number 21 out of 932 towns in New York State. Supervisor Joe Croce says it's something to be proud of, and he credits the police department with the ranking, according to an article in the Southern Ulster Times.

The supervisor told the paper that detectives recently had a high caseload. They were working on burglaries, forcible touching, unattended death, fraud, public lewdness, and grand larceny cases. Also, the Plattekill Police Officers have completed NARCAN training, to help with the opioid crisis.

Supervisor Croce also said Detective Robert Riley, who is the dare officer, graduated another DARE class. The DARE program educates the youth of the dangers of alcohol, drugs and tobacco. The article didn’t mention where any other New York towns ranked on the list.
