Kilo lived up to his name. The Ulster County Sheriff's Office K-9 spent his nine-year career sniffing out drugs by the kilo and pound and tracking down those who ran from his bipedal colleagues.

On Friday, Nov. 6, Kilo had his final patrol. The officer died at the Hoppenstedt Veterinary Hospital in the Town of Ulster with an escort provided by his handler, Deputy James Slinsky, and members of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Town of Lloyd Police Department, Town of Ulster Police Department, Town of Rosendale Police Department, Town of New Paltz Police Department, New York State Police and City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.

According to a posting on the Ulster County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Kilo contributed to the seizure of hundreds of pounds of marijuana, over two kilograms of cocaine, thousands of decks of heroin, thousands of tablets of MDMA, hundreds of diverted pharmaceuticals and over $500,000 in currency.

The Ulster County Sheriff's Office shared a video celebrating Kilo's life and career:
