Police are investigating a car crash in the upper Hudson Valley that killed one teenager, hours before her graduation. Other teens were injured.

An investigation determined that a 2002 Ford Focus driven by a 16-year-old female was traveling south on Route 9G and State Route 23B in the Town of Greenport Friday morning when the car drifted off the roadway.

A 17-year-old from Athens, a back-seat passenger, suffered serious internal injuries and was initially transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

She was later air-lifted to Albany Medical Center. CBS 6 Albany reports that Alyssa Christiana later died from her injuries at the hospital. Christina was set to graduate from Coxsackie-Athens Friday evening. On Facebook the Coxsackie-Athens School District confirmed Christiana's death.

Two other teenage passengers, a 16-year-old female from Catskill and a 17-year-old male from Coxsackie, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say the teens were returning home from a party in the Town of Cairo. The crash remains under investigation. It doesn’t appear the driver was impaired by alcohol.

Greenport Fire Department provided emergency services at scene.
