This week we're looking at one of my favorite songs of the 90s and it comes from a band whose singer went on to front another critically acclaimed band a decade later.

Tripping Daisy were from Dallas, TX, and this song comes from their second album, Elastic Firecracker, which is an incredibly overlooked mid-90s record. What I love about this band is that they were smart, catchy, and increasingly weird as the years go on.

And just like that career trajectory, this video gets weirder and weirder. I have no idea what this is about. The girl is a sadist... coroner? I don't know, but body bag or not, Tim DeLaughter is one of the most charismatic frontmen of his era.

Sadly, the guitarist of the band, Wes Berggren, died of an overdose in 1999. Shortly thereafter, the members of Tripping Daisy formed the even stranger and more successful Polyphonic Spree:

Yep, the 25-member cult-looking group of uplifting chamber poppers came from this band. Well, I hope you enjoyed the Tripping Daisy song as much as I did, and I'll leave you with this: the entire Polyphonic Spree in one very small room performing a Neil Young song together:
