Welcome Centers are planned for the Walkway Over The Hudson on both the Ulster and Dutchess County sides of the river. While the Ulster project is underway, Dutchess County can now start catching up with the help of additional state funds.

Governor Cuomo announced a huge aid package aimed at economic development in New York state worth more than $750 million this week. $84 million of that is coming to the Hudson Valley for work on 113 different projects. $500,000 of that money is going to the new welcome center on the corner of Washington and Parker Ave in Poughkeepsie.

The $3.1 million Dutchess Welcome Center will include restrooms, a covered gathering area that would fit around 40 people, water fountains, lighting, landscaping and more.

Construction is ongoing for the Ulster Welcome Center and walkers are asked to avoid work areas and stay in their travel lanes. Anyone on their bike should dismount and walk their bike through these areas.
