A wanted Hudson Valley man was arrested, in possession of drugs, following a wild car chase in Ulster County.

On Friday around 6:00 p.m., Ulster County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit observed a suspicious vehicle on Route 9W in the Town of Lloyd. Police say the vehicle was spotted committing a number of traffic violations. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle on Milton Avenue, the car fled.

According to authorities, the vehicle accelerated and fled onto Commercial Avenue and then New Paltz Road. The driver eventually lost control on a turn on New Paltz Road and hit a utility pole. The car came to rest in a muddy area.

Police say the driver then attempted to flee on foot but was caught by K-9 "Dozer". 23-year-old Brandon Gill, of Highland was allegedly found to be in possession of crack cocaine, heroin, drug paraphernalia and $5,000.

Gill was also wanted on a New York State Parole Violation Absconder warrant. His vehicle was a rental car, rented to a third party. He was treated at Westchester Mid-Hudson Hospital for minor injuries. He was then transported to the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center.

Gill was charged with 1st-degree reckless endangerment, NYS parole absconder arrest warrant, felonies, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, 4th-degree criminal mischief, 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors, reckless driving, and a number of traffic violations.

Gill was arraigned in Town of Rosendale Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without Bail. The investigation continues and further charges are possible.
