A man wanted in the City of Newburgh was allegedly found by police with a loaded gun in Orange County.

On Tuesday around 12:45 p.m., City of Newburgh Police responded to William Street for a report of a female being held against her will.

Arriving officers were met by two men who were trying to leave the William Street apartment. Both agreed to be interviewed about the possible domestic dispute, police say.

During the interview, officials say they learned that 28-year-old Kingsley Johnson had an arrest warrant in the City of Newburgh for first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, and a violation for second-degree harassment.

Johnson was detained by police. As authorities investigated further, they allegedly found a loaded .45 caliber handgun. The gun had been reported stolen from the City of Newburgh, police say.

Johnson was charged with the arrest warrant in addition to criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, felonies, criminal contempt, a misdemeanor and harassment, a violation.
