The recent cold snap started on Christmas Day, but relief has arrived. It will actually be warm enough to enjoy Winterfest on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail this weekend.

I know that it might sound weird to be looking for warmer temperatures for a Winter festival, but nobody wants to stand outside when the wind chills are below zero. You won't have to worry about that on Saturday because it might get close to 40 here in the Mid Hudson Valley.

The 21st Annual Winterfest is coming up on Saturday on the Rail Trail in Highland and it's an opportunity to get outside and celebrate. This is great family fun and the "Chili Contest" is one of the best around.

According to Ulster County Alive, there will be: Hayrides, a bonfire, roasting chestnuts and lots of fun for the whole family. I have been to Winterfest a few times and it always draws a pretty big crowd. Warmer weather and lots of food and fun for everyone. Winterfest happens on Saturday the 13th from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Hudson Valley Rail Trail Depot at 101 New Paltz Road in Highland.
