I don't think I'm alone when I say that I'm not a huge fan of the Hudson Valley winter season. This weekend it was so brutally cold, that it was painful to even go outside.

With that being said, there is one thing that I find oddly satisfying during this time of year; Hearing the crunch of the ice breaking and floating down the Hudson River.

Yes, I know. Weird.

The "bomb cyclone"  that hit the Hudson Valley with force left us in a deep freeze and the Hudson river frozen. So much so that the Coast Guard had to be called in.

Good Morning America posted gifs and videos of the Coast Guard ships cruising along the Hudson, making paths so other boats traveling through could make it. Watch the video below and try to tell me it's not the least bit satisfying:

And I could watch this gif for hours:

It was also reported that a boat had gotten stuck in the out in the Kingston area and was able to be rescued thanks to the Coast Guards path clearing efforts.
