Wanting to spend a day in a town that has a familiar name, but still need to travel to enjoy it? Here is a familiar sounding town that is a short (ok short might not be the word to describe it), four hours away by car? Woodstock, Vermont.

Here are a few things going on over the next month that could be an excuse to take a trip, from WoodstockVT press release:

  • Harpoon Point to Point (August 13, 2016) Dust off those wheels for a cycling fundraiser to benefit the Vermont Foodbank! Enjoy a scenic ride, followed by BBQ, live music and beer at the Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, VT.

  • Taste of Woodstock (August 13, 2016) Looking for an event that offers a taste of all that Vermont has to offer? The Taste of Woodstock brings specialty local foods, drink, live music, street performers, kids' activities, dancing, tastings and shopping galore from more than 40 vendors.

  • Naked Table Project (August 20-21, 2016) The Naked Table Project invites families across New England to build tables made of Vermont's iconic Sugar Maple trees. Walk the forests, then build a table in the workshops of Shackleton Thomas, and celebrate your creations over a locavore feast, where table makers along with the community, all sit down at their tables to share a meal made completely of locally grown and prepared ingredients.

If you are a beer fan, you might want to include stops at Harpoon Brewery, Long Trail Brewing, Freight House Brewing, Trout River Brewing or Pleasant Valley Brewing.
