A Westchester County teenager was indicted in the shooting death of a Hudson Valley college student.

In Westchester County Court, 19-year-old Stivenson Desir, of New Rochelle was arraigned Tuesday on an indictment charging him with one count of 2nd-degree murder and 2 counts of 2nd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.
On April 3 around 3:20 a.m., the New Rochelle Police Department received several 911 calls reporting shots been fired in Lincoln Park.

When they arrived on the scene, they found the victim, 18-year-old Brandon Lawrence, of Iona College lying face down in the center field area of the ball field. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, an investigation revealed that Desir and Lawrence both attended an off-campus Iona College house party hours before the alleged shooting.

Following the party, a group of five males, including the victim and the defendant, went to Lincoln Park. While at the park, two of the men engaged in a pre-arranged fist fight.

As they were watching, Desir allegedly pulled a handgun and fired at Lawrence. Lawrence was fatally shot in the torso, officials say.

Desir was found the next day and placed under arrest.

Desir plead not guilty to the charges. He remains remanded at Westchester County Jail. He is due in court on July 26.
