I watch a lot of sporting events involving people having theme songs. Whether it's baseball players having a song that plays when they step up to the plate or enter the game as a pitcher, or UFC fighters and wrestlers coming out to pyrotechnics and pomp and circumstance, a good theme song can really just set things off.

But the tricky part is finding something that works for you and your personality. It can't just be a song you like, it has to be something that gives you a certain feeling, a sense that you could conquer the world. At the same time, if you're kind of a quiet, thoughtful person, having something that's loud and abrasive and explosive might not be the right fit.

So, I've broken mine down into a top three (because I could probably spend all day assessing the values of one theme song against another). NSFW warning for a couple of these songs, in case you're slacking off at work. Throw some headphones in.

Rage Against the Machine - "Testify"

That buildup. The rolling drums. The flanger-y guitar. When that "UH!" comes in, about 20 seconds into the song, I could Superman punch through a cinderblock wall. The downside to using this jam as your entrance song is that not only might it power you to hit a home run or whatever, but you might immediately thereafter try to overthrow a government.

Beastie Boys - "Sabotage"

Like the previous pick, the buildup on this, the intro is just too good. You can't help but get pumped. I can't count the amount of times that I've had this album on in my car and I've had to scream "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII" along with the song, to the disturbance of an old lady in a late 1990s Buick next to me. That might sound like a comically specific circumstance to have happened more than once, but it has. Believe me. You have no reason not to.

Ghostface Killah - "The Champ"

I really feel like I could beat up Brock Lesnar when this song comes on. I mean, I couldn't, but I really feel like I could. It's so triumphant. It's so boisterous. It really embodies everything about being a champion. And of course, Ghostface shouting lyrics at you (as he always does) is one of the great joys that this world has to offer.

Okay, my burning need to own a championship belt is back at an all-time high. Anyway, what's your pick for your theme song?
