This weekend's weather is looking really good. With Earth Day on Friday, there are a lot of ecologically minded activities going on throughout the Hudson Valley, plus here's a few other ideas for you to have fun with your family and friends.

 

Saturday, April 23; 8-4: 46th Annual Wappingers Creek Water Derby. This is an 8-mile canoe/kayak race from Pleasant Valley to Greenvale Park. There are different classes, trophies will be awarded, sponsored by Aquaticexplorers.org. There is a fee to enter but the event is free for spectators.

Saturday, April 23; 11 am: Sullivan County High School Art Show at The Catskill Art Society in Livingston Manor. You can see hundreds of works in eleven different categories all created by high school students from all eight of the county’s districts; Eldred, Fallsburg, Liberty, Livingston Manor, Monticello, Roscoe, Sullivan West and Tri-Valley, plus student work from SC BOCES. Admission is free.

Saturday, April 23; 10-11:30 am: Teddy Bear Picnic at the Phoenicia Library. Bring your favorite Teddy Bear to a party to celebrate our well-loved stuffed friends. There will be snacks, crafts, music, and more. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.

Saturday, April 23; 8-4: West Point Community Yard Sale at West Point Family Housing. Come visit and shop the yard sale throughout the designated housing areas on post. You can enter through Thayer or Stony Lonesome gates, but you will need proper identification to enter academy grounds and all vehicles are subject to search. Please remember that all housing areas enforce a 15 mph speed limit.
