It's certainly not something to be proud of, but two counties in the Hudson Valley are ranked number 1 and 2 in New York when it comes to DWI arrests.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Michael Hill, director of the drunk driver program at Dutchess Community College addressed a gathering of police officers and other law enforcement officials during the annual Law Enforcement Award Ceremony sponsored by the Dutchess County STOP-DWI Program.

During the ceremony 10 local officers were honored for their work in arresting those who who are driving while intoxicated. Top honors for 2014 were given to Deputy Neil A. Stuart from the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, who made 113 such arrests this year.

Hill explained that by analyzing the populations of all of the counties in New York State and comparing that to number of alcohol related driving arrests Ulster County was is the top New York county for DWI arrests. Duchess comes in second.
