Over the weekend Amazon.com announced that they were going to be opening more 'brick and mortar stores' by the end of the year. 2017 will see new Amazon stores coming to the Garden State Mall in Paramus and to Columbus Circle in NYC. Amazon already has stores in California, Oregon and Washington state.

The stores will be selling books, along with Kindle e-readers, Echo products, Fire TV and Fire tablets.

But here is the question that we need YOUR help with: Where in the Hudson Valley do you think a Amazon.com store should open up? Here are a few suggestions from WRRV listeners, received via text to 845-451-9778 (WRRV):

  • The Newburgh Mall
  • The Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston, with its location near enough to the NYS Thruway, it would be convenient for residents for 'Upstate NY.'
  • Orange Plaza in Middletown
  • The Old Amish Market in Hyde Park, Route 9 in Hyde Park, just north of the Presidential Library
  • The Old Mall in Fishkill, just south of I-84, convenient location, just south of the Route 9 and I-84 interchange

Now, these are just a few of the suggestions. Granted, we are not sure that the Amazon.com powers that be are going to listen to us, but think of the traffic that one of these brick and mortar stores could bring to a declining shopping area.

The people that would be coming from out of the area, bring money to spend not only at this store, but at other locations in the Hudson Valley like restaurants, gas stations and other local attractions.

Where do you think an Amazon store should be in the Hudson Valley?
